OAXACA
Oaxaca's black clay is born from the encounter between the river and the Zapotec hands of San Lorenzo Cacaotepec, Etla, where the clay is extracted, kneaded, and transformed with ancestral patience.
Its modeling and burnishing follow techniques passed down through generations, inspired by those of San Bartolo Coyotepec, the recognized cradle of this art. The surface is polished with stones until it achieves that deep sheen that seems to hold the very essence of night.
Each piece retains the strength of its origin: earth, water, and fire transformed into form.
At Choza, we collaborate with local artisans to explore new proportions and uses, integrating this ancient tradition into contemporary design.
The result is a ceramic that breathes history, yet lives in the present—a material that speaks of time and the beauty born from craftsmanship.
